Hello! We’re Chris and Rachel Thomas, missionaries in Chihuahua, Mexico. We’ve been in Mexico for almost 8 years. We’re looking forward to sharing more about the ministry God has given us here, but would like to share just a bit about how we got to this point.
Both of us are proud southerners, Chris grew up in Mississippi, and Rachel is from Georgia. We met while in seminary in New Orleans and the rest is history. We fell in love with each other and both had a love and passion to serve our Father. We served as youth and children’s pastor in Louisiana and Mississippi before God put a desire on our hearts to reach unreached people groups abroad. We moved to Missouri in 2006 to do some more technical missionary training and while there after visiting Mexico God put a love in our hearts for our neighbors to the south. In 2008 we moved to Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico and began to learn the language and culture, and of course eat the food. Although we loved the people in the city and the ministries we were involved in, we moved out to a mountain village in 2011 to begin a ministry with both the Mexican church and an Indigenous people called the Tepehuan.
The last five years in the mountains has been filled with ups and downs and all arounds, and through it all we’ve seen our God’s might hand in all things. These are some of the things we hope to share and walk along with you in the weeks and months to come.
The picture we included is of our recent egg hunt. Over 100 kids and youth showed up and heard about the reason we celebrate Easter – our Risen King. Our kids club is every Saturday morning and what a privilege it has been to be a part of what God is doing here in Baborigame, Mexico.
Please keep us in your prayers and we hope you will be encouraged and challenged as we share about this ministry.
